By Whose Authority?
Evaluating Sources of Information
Each of these three videos is a source of information about cooking. Which video do you trust most to give you the best information? Why is that?
Take some time to consider this question, then write a short paragraph with your thoughts and send it to your professor and your librarian.
Some things to think about:
- Authority is concerned with the author of the piece of information. Can the author (or video creator, in this case) be trusted to give you good information? How do you know?
- Who is the intended audience for each video? Does that make a difference?
- Can you think of a situation in which you would use one video over another, even if it’s not the video you picked as the best?
