Library Services During Reopening Process

As Foley Library prepares for campus to return to full in-person services for the 2021-2022 academic school year, this Guide has been set up to provide you with additional information on Library operations and services at this time.  Our library staff are available to assist you and we encourage you to refer to our online information and services which are available remotely.  We will update this guide as necessary.

Foley Library Information

August 24, 2021

Foley Library is now open to the public and continues to serve the Gonzaga community.  Most normal services have resumed. 

Visiting Foley Library

While we are now able to welcome the Gonzaga and greater Spokane community into the library we do require face coverings be worn at all times.  The building is open to the public from 8am - 5 pm Monday through Friday, for up to date weekly hours please reference our Hours Page.

Members of the general public will be required to call the circulation desk at 509-313-5803 to be let into Foley.

Food and drink are not allowed in the library currently.

Visitors must complete a digital self-certification form certifying that they or a member of their household have not:

  • Been diagnosed with, or knowingly exposed to a positive case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • Been experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, dry cough, new loss of taste or smell
  • Been asked to self-quarantine or self-isolate in the last 14 days
Physical Distancing Zone and Covid-19 Protocols

For students and visitors wishing to observe social distancing, an area on the south side of the second and third floors has seating spaced out to accommodate social distancing. 

Hand sanitizer and cleaning materials continue to be available throughout the library.

Check Out, Renewals, and Reserves

Holds may be picked up at the Circulation Desk. We also offer self-check inside the building.

As always, we do not charge overdue fees. Lost items fines will be waived once materials are returned.
Please return all materials to the external book drop (to the left of the main eastside entrance to the building), or the blue book drop in the basement of College Hall.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

We have resumed all Interlibrary Loan borrowing and lending services.  Lending services are available to other libraries as staffing and time permits.   

To borrow physical items, journal articles or book chapter scans from other libraries, login to our Interlibrary Loan request system.

Research Assistance
  • Research Guides are available online to help you start your research on any subject taught here at Gonzaga.
  • Contact the subject liaison librarian for you area of study if you need in-depth assistance.  
  • Make an Appointment: You can schedule an appointment to speak with a librarian on the phone or online via Zoom.
  • Email A Question -  Contact the Foley library at any time via email ( or use our Research Question Submission Form. Most questions are answered within one business day.
  • Library Survival Kit: a quick-start guide to online resources at Foley, geared towards students.
  • Information Desk: Call 509-313-3813 for library questions, renewals or general questions about using the library.  
  • Quick Questions: Chat is available 24/7 - If you have questions about using the library, please contact the library via our chat service using the box on the right.  
Accessing E-Resources: Databases, E-Journals, and E-books

Databases - Over 350 research databases are available from the library home page. Off-campus access requires a GU username and password and multi-factor authentication to log in.
