Library Services During Reopening Process

Following the Governor's Executive Order in March of 2020, Foley Library Building has been closed, and our in-person services have been suspended. As we move toward reopening for Fall 2020, this LibGuide has been set up to provide you with additional information on Library operations and services at this time.  Our library staff are available to assist you and we encourage you to refer to our online information and services which are available remotely.  We will update this guide as necessary.

Liaison Librarians

  • Liaison Librarians -To find out more about research or resources in a specific academic field, please contact our liaison librarians, via email or by phone. 
  • Make an Appointment with a Librarian - To confer with a librarian by phone or online (via Zoom), please set up an appointment using our link on the home paget:
  • Schedule Online Instruction for Your Course - To schedule a librarian to present to your class via Zoom or develop asynchronous library research activities to support your students' work, please contact your liaison librarian

Library Acquisitions

  • Ordering Electronic Resources -The library can purchase streaming movies through Kanopy, license ebooks, and order other resources that support your online teaching. To get started contact Sydney Chambers ( or 6537) or your liaison librarian.

Academic Technology Applications Support

  • ATAS - For questions related to using technology applications such as Foliotek, TurnItIn, Nuventive Improve or Qualtrics, please contact Academic Technology Applications Support at 509-313-3972 or by emailing

Check Out, Renewals, and Reserves

  • Following the Governor's Executive Order, the Foley Library building is closed, effective 3/25/20.
  • As of 8/10/20, we are now offering contact-free curbside pickup. For more information, visit our guide on placing a request for curbside pickup.
  • Due dates for ILL items have been extended to 8/15/20. Due dates for Foley-owned items have been extended to 8/31/20.
  • As always, we do not charge overdue fees. Lost items fines will be waived once materials are returned. 
  • Please return all materials to the external book drop (to the left of the main eastside entrance to the building), or the blue book drop in the basement of College Hall.
  • If you are unable to return materials in person, please mail them to the following address:

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery

  • Loan of physical materials via ILL is currently suspended until further notice. Requests for books and other physical media are not being accepted. We apologize for the inconvenience.
  • Due dates for ILL items have been extended to 8/15/20.
  • To borrow journal articles or book chapter scans from other libraries, use Interlibrary Loan

Library Resources

  • Chat - Chat 24/7 with a librarian using the box on the right. During Foley Library business hours chats are answered by Foley Library faculty and staff. After hours another AJCU library or contracted librarians are available to answer questions.
  • Email A Question - Email the Foley Information Desk at or submit our Research Question Submission Form. Most questions are answered within one business day.
  • Research Guides - Research Guides in all academic fields are available for students and faculty to assist in their research.  
  • Databases - Database access from off-campus requires a valid GU username and password. To obtain these credentials, please contact Anji Mertens at or by calling 509-313-6534.

Zag Shop Support

  • The Zag Shop can help facilitate the eLearning process for  faculty who need assistance locating eTextbooks.  Faculty can reach out to  Gail Lancaster, Course Materials Manager (  More details are provided in the Library Guide for COVID-19.
