Reporting Issues After Hours

Reporting Building & Technology Issues

During the late-night hours, Campus Security is your go-to for reporting all emergency issues (leak in the building, technology failure, security issues).

However, the library's Web & Systems Manager, Anji Mertens, should be contacted in the event of a technology issue. Anji can triage the issue to determine if it needs to be escalated to the on-call ITS person.

Please take time now to find the Supervisor Manual, which is located in the filing cabinet drawer of the floater desk (102B). Find and read the page titled "Reporting Issues."

Patron Behavior Issues

Procedures for responding to patron behavior issues during daytime hours (when full-time staff are in the building)

During late-night hours, if you encounter patron behavior issues, you may choose to resolve the issues on your own if you are comfortable doing so, or you may call security or 9-1-1 for assistance resolving the patron issue.

Door Locking Issues

If the doors are unlocked past closing time (or if the doors lock too early), call Campus Security at x2222 from any desk phone or 509-313-2222 from your cell phone. Explain that the doors need to be locked or unlocked (NOTE: the inner doors are referred to as the "Inner Vestibule Doors," and the outer doors are referred to as the "Exterior Public Doors."
