Library Services & Scholar Support
As you can tell from the our mission statement, we are passionate about inclusive and holistic library services, or what we like to call “Scholar Support.” That being said, we do have a few things to note about patron services at the desks.
Quality – We want our library patrons to have quality experiences when interacting with library staff at the desks.
Inclusivity & Dignity – We treat everyone with dignity, respect, and confidentiality (i.e., no commenting on the nature of their research). We aim to provide inclusive services and spaces to make all patrons feel welcome.
Consistency – We aim to provide consistent service. Remember that if you go above and beyond for a patron, they are going to expect the same service every time they come in.
Etiquette – When directing people around the building, as much as possible (we know things get busy and it’s not always possible), escort them toward their destinations. For example, if someone is looking for Academic Advising, walk them around the corner of the curved wall and point them toward room 122.
Referring – We never say “I can’t help you.” We will find the person who can help the patron.
