Important Note about Direct Deposit and Paychecks
Unless you set up direct deposit with Payroll, you will receive a paper check that will be mailed to your permanent address (for many of you, that means your parent’s house). The paycheck company that Gonzaga uses estimates 3-5 days for shipping paper paychecks, then you may be in a situation where your parents need to mail you your paycheck after it arrives with them.
Long story short, please set up direct deposit if you want to avoid paper paychecks!
To set up direct deposit, email Gonzaga’s Payroll department (payroll@gonzaga.edu).
Alternatively, you can set up your direct deposit in ZagWeb. There is more information on how to do that here: https://my.gonzaga.edu/faculty-staff-services/finance-office/controllers-office/payroll/pay-information
Important Tips About Setting Up Direct Deposits
"ABA Transit Routing Numbers" are typically fairly easy to find via Google or any other search engine (for example, searching the web for "Washington Trust routing number"). If you are not able to locate your bank's routing number via a search engine, you can also sometimes find it in your banking app or online banking account.
Bank account numbers are typically 8-12 digits, and these can also be found in your banking app or online banking account. However, they will often look something like this: ********3124. You will need to make sure that your bank app or online banking system is set to show the full account number.
Please do not list your debit or credit card numbers, as those numbers are not valid banking account numbers.
For student employees, it is most common to only use one primary account for direct deposit.
OPTIONAL AND NOT COMMON: For Student Employees Who Need to Set Up Multiple Bank Accounts for Direct Deposit
Most of the time, you will only want to have your paycheck deposited to one account (your "Primary Account"). However, if for some reason you need to use multiple bank accounts, you have the option of adding a second and third bank account. If you do use multiple bank accounts, you will need to designate the percentage to allocate to each bank (for example, my "Primary Account" is my US Bank checking account, but I also have an STCU savings account, and I want 30% of my paycheck to go there; or, my "Primary Account" is my Washington Trust checking account, but I also want $50 from each paycheck to go into my Washington Trust savings account).
