What To Do When You Are Sick or Planning Time Off
We understand that all of you are student employees and you will get sick and or things will arise where you need to drop your shifts. All we ask of you is to give supervisors a warning as soon as possible.
If you are sick or have an emergency, let us know as soon as possible so that we can arrange coverage.
Below are the steps for calling out sick and or planning for time off:
Calling out sick
1. Fill out a sick/absent form so that all supervisors are emailed with the notice. This step is required of all absences.
2. As an optional courtesy, we appreciate it if you can also call the Circulation Desk as soon as possible and ask to speak with a supervisor.
3. Drop your shifts on WhenToWork. This is a required step.
4. Don't forget that you accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours you work. If you have a sick leave balance, you are welcome to enter sick leave into your timecard for the hours you miss.
Planning time off
1. Remember to give at least 24 hours notice for weekday shifts and 48 hours notice for evening and weekend shifts.
2. Fill out a sick/absent form so that all supervisors are emailed with the notice.
2. Drop your shifts on WhenToWork.
