Welcome to Foley Library! We are so excited to welcome you to our team of student employees. Here is some information to help prepare you for your new position as Circulation Assistant.

Position Description - Circulation Assistant

Position Title: Circulation Assistant - Tier 1
Purpose: Provide circulation assistance at the Circulation Desk
Location: Foley Library, Gonzaga University, Main Floor, Check Out Desk

Key Responsibilities:
Position
•    Assist patrons in checking out library materials using an automated computer system.
•    Verify patron accounts using ID numbers.
•    Provide due date and late policy information.
•    Perform simple searches for location and status of library materials.
•    Schedule and checking out room keys for group study rooms and library equipment.
•    Regularly check book drops for returned materials.
•    Check in library materials, sensitizing, sorting and shelving.
•    Perform stacks maintenance duties such as shelving, inventory and shelf-reading.
•    Answer basic information and directional questions in person and via phone.
•    Track stats on patron interactions using library statistical software.
•    Pull items from the stacks for in-house holds and consortium lending.

Departmental
•    Act as first point of contact for library and building.
•    Greet library patrons as they enter/exit the building, maintain approachable demeanor.
•    Answer phone and transfer calls.
•    Maintain front desk tidiness – wipe down desk area/keyboards as needed.
•    Monitor paper in all four library printers and refill as needed.
•    Assist patrons with troubleshooting library technology and equipment.
•    Be ready to assist library faculty and staff with other projects as needed.
•    Maintain confidentiality of library records.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
•    Basic computer knowledge
•    Service-oriented with excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
