If a patron wishes to check out an item and Foley Library does not have the item, it may be available through Summit.
For this example, we are going to search Primo for the book “The Crying Book.” Since the default scope is “Gonzaga Libraries + Summit,” we do not need to adjust the scope. If Foley Library owned a copy, we would see the result with a Foley Library call number and location. In this case, we do not own a copy, so we will instead see the book with the note “Check for Available Services.”
Clicking on “Check for available services” will bring up a list of options for requesting the item (Summit and/or ILL).
A patron can use this method to request the book for themselves—unfortunately, you cannot use this method to request the item for them while using one of the circ desk computers, because Primo will sync with their GU login to request the item.
If you need to place a Summit request for a patron at the circ desk, you can place the request using Alma. If you do not know how to do this, a supervisor can show you how.
