Quick Guides

When your request is available to view, you will receive an automated email with a link to your User Portal (see below).

Additionally, you can access your User Portal from the Foley homepage, accessible by clicking here. You will see the screen below, and click on the blue ILL/Interlibrary Loan tile to access your User Portal. Either of these methods will take you to your User Portal for accessing filled requests, requesting renewals, and more!

Once you are in your User Portal, you will see a screen a looks similar to the screen below, except with a list of requests that you have submitted through ILL.

This available to view link, indicated above, will open a pdf of your requested article or book chapter scan. We highly recommend saving these pdfs to an easily accessible location, because your link will expire after 5 views or 30 days, whichever comes first. If you are unable to access your article, please fill out the ILL Help Form so that we can assist you as soon as possible. Choosing "Request Again" can result in the same issue occurring without us being notified and being able to solve this issue for you.

For renewing ILL requests, there is a different process from how you would renew Foley-owned items. If your item is not yet due, you can submit a renewal request yourself through your User Portal. However, if you need to request a renewal on the date that your item is due or past the due date, please email ill@gonzaga.edu for further assistance. IMPORTANT: renewal requests are approved or denied by the library that lent us the item. If your renewal is denied and you need more time with the item, please refer to the next Quick Guide on submitting a duplicate request.

Step 1: Access your User Portal. On the Foley Library home page, you will see a blue tile titled ILL/Interlibrary Loan (see below). You can also access your User Portal by clicking here.

Clicking on this tile will take you to the sign in for your User Portal. Once signed in, you will see a list of your requests. When searching for a request, do not use the search bar at the top of the screen, as this is not searching your requests (see below).

Instead, scroll through your requests until you see the request that you would like to be renewed. Once you find the request, if it is before the due date, you will see "Request Renewal" as an option (see below). Selecting this option will send a renewal request to the lending library, who then has the option to approve or deny it.

You will receive an email when the renewal request is approved or denied by the lending library. As mentioned, if your renewal request is denied and you need more time with the item that you requested, refer to the next Quick Guide on submitting a duplicate request. If you need further assistance, please fill out the ILL Help Form so that we can assist you as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: Before submitting a duplicate request, ensure that you have tried renewing the item and have received a Renewal Denied email. Instructions for submitting a renewal request can be found on the previous tab.

Step 1: Access your User Portal. On the Foley Library home page, you will see a blue tile titled ILL/Interlibrary Loan (see below).

Clicking on this tile will take you to the sign in for your User Portal. Once signed in, you will see a list of your requests. When searching for a request, do not use the search bar at the top of the screen, as this is not searching your requests (see below).

Instead, scroll through your requests until you see the request that you would like to request again. Once you find the request, on the righthand side there will be a "Request Again" option (see below).

Selecting this option will take you to the request form and autofill the details from your previous request, ensuring that you receive the same item that you had requested previously.  If you need further assistance, please fill out the ILL Help Form so that we can assist you as soon as possible.
