Library Orientation: Health Sciences: 4. Citing Your Evidence

This guide introduces users to library resources and services to support health sciences research.

APA 7 Format

The Nursing profession generally uses APA format, and students at Gonzaga will be asked to use this format for any papers you write while in the program. You can learn more about APA format at the APA For Health Sciences Guide.

MSSE Format

For Human Physiology students, you may be asked to cite papers using MSSE format; information about this format can be found on the MSSE journal website.

AMA Format

AMA (American Medical Association) format is also common in the health sciences.

Using a Citation Manager

Citation managers help you to easily manage your research. Finding a great research article is one thing, but quickly finding it in the labyrinth of your computer is a completely different beast. Citation managers not only allow you to organize your resources so you can quickly find articles for the project you are working on, but they help you create citations for your paper.

The Foley Library recommends the free software Zotero to keep track and easily cite resources. Zotero integrate with Microsoft Word, allowing you to quickly insert citations into your paper as you write it. It will even create a bibliography for you!
