DELA Canada - Library Orientation: Welcome!

Always Updating

We do our best to keep this current, but if you notice something else that doesn't look right, please let us know. Thanks!

Anthony Tardiff, Instruction Librarian

Welcome!

Welcome to the Foley Center Library Introduction and Orientation. Did you know? You have exactly the same access to library resources as on-campus students. Our resources can make your work as a student a lot easier. Simply knowing what resources are available is the first step to using them. What you can do is: Search for academic articles in over 250 databases, order physical books from Foley or another library, and get immediate one-on-one help from a librarian.

How to Use This Guide

This guide is broken down into bite-sized chunks (okay, maybe a little bigger than a bite), which you can access by using these tabs at the top of the page:

Picture of the guide's tabs to select each section

In each tab, you will find a variety of information about that part of our library service. Don't hesitate! Dive right in!

If you see this icon . . .

Picture of the Printable PDF icon

. . . it means that we have provided a downloadable PDF document that makes it easy to print that tutorial.

Near the bottom of each tab, you will find a section like this . . .

Picture of an icon that says Get Your Hands Dirty

. . . which lists a few challenges to give you some hands-on time with our resources.

When you have had your hands-on time, go on to the section called . . .

Picture of an icon that says Quiz Yourself

. . . and see how well you do! (Don't worry: these quizzes aren't graded!)

When you finish each tab, just hit the button at the bottom of the page to go on to the next tab, which looks something like this . .

Picture of the button that appears on the bottom of each guide section that takes you to the next section

. . . or click on another tab at the top of the page.

When you have completed all the tabs, take the final self-assessment and reflection.

Have fun!
