Learning Outcomes

This one shot course aims to address the FYS learning objectives of how knowledge is constructed across multiple disciplines. It also seeks to have students identify the differences between public and private knowledge.

First Year Seminar (FYS) Learning Outcomes (LOs)

  • LO1.  Students will be able to differentiate the ways in which knowledge is constructed across multiple disciplines.
  • LO2.  Students will be able to articulate how their own personal and cultural perspectives affect their discovery and generation of knowledge and understanding.
  • LO3.  Students will be able to integrate the principles of Gonzaga’s mission with their academic, personal, and spiritual aspirations.

Class Format

This class is designed to be taught in person. Primarily lecture based, students will be asked to engage through selecting the best pricing options for the library and other publication methods.

70 minute classes will likely have more discussion time than 50 minute classes with more time to focus on specific court cases with Alphabet, Inc (Google), Elsevier and specific private equity firms.

Specific sub field foci can be brought in to talk about economies of individual disciplines if needed.
