The migration of the Gonzaga Libraries to the Orbis Cascade Alliance network is now complete and our Primo Library Search has been upgraded!

  • Gonzaga students, faculty, and staff can now visit and checkout from other Summit libraries in person, just bring your Zagcard.
  • Links in Blackboard courses, syllabi, and on websites may need updated! Permalinks and bookmarks to the old Primo system will no longer work please reference our guide on updating Permalinks. Library faculty and staff are here to help if you need assistance!

Prepping for Gonzaga Libraries System Transition

July 1, 2022

As part of our membership in the Orbis Cascade Alliance, the three Gonzaga Libraries, Foley, Chastek and Gonzaga in Florence will be transitioning to a new search platform summer of 2022.  During the configuration of the new platform we are also migrating our system into the Orbis Cascade Alliance network, and will begin borrowing and lending through Summit Resource Sharing in August of 2022.
For more information on our membership in the Alliance read Gonzaga University to join Northwest Consortium of Libraries.

There will be some disruptions to library services as we make these changes and there will be some required actions to connect to library resources after the transition.

  • July 15nd, 2022, access to Primo Library Search becomes Read Only, services such as placing requests, renewals, saving searches, or favorites will be unavailable.  You will still be able to search for library materials, and circulation services will be available in the library in an offline capacity. Books returned to the library during this time may still show on your account as checked out, but items will not be considered overdue during the system downtime.
  • August 1st, 2022, the new upgraded Primo Library Search interface will be available for searching, requesting, renewals etc.
  • August 5th, 2022, a targeted date for library staff to have configurations completed in the new Primo Library Search, Summit Requesting will be available.

If you wish to preserve your saved data in Primo Library Search

Although many of the same features will be available in the new system, permalinks and most of your saved data will not be migrated over automatically, as outlined below.  You must take steps to capture your saved data before JULY 15 so that you can re-enter them into your account in the new system. This guide provides instructions to save your impacted data.

  1. Items in My Favorites > Saved Records will be migrated automatically for each account. No action is required.
  2. If you are using Permalinks for items in the catalog, these links will not redirect you to the upgraded system. We suggest you save individual items to the My Favorites menu for easy access post-upgrade. For example: if you have items linked from the catalog in BlackBoard these will need to be changed after August 5th.
  3. Items in My Favorites > Saved Searches and Search Alerts will not be migrated. If you wish to keep your saved searches, please copy them outside of the catalog by July 15, 2022, so that you can re-enter them after the upgrade. If you don’t wish to preserve your saved queries, no action is necessary.
