Library System Transition

Updating Primo Library Search Permalinks

Due to our system migration and upgrade, permalinks and bookmarks that previously pointed to records in Primo will need to be updated.  Links to databases and article records within databases are unaffected by this change.

How to tell the difference?

Primo permalinks from the old system must be updated, these links will start with: https://01win-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/

Database links look like this, these links are unaffected by the change: https://gonzaga.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=128013708&site=ehost-live&scope=site

Best practice, is to test your links!  Library faculty and staff are here to help if you need assistance!

To create a new permalink:

  • Navigate to Primo Library Search
  • Search for the title you wish to link to - if you saved items to your My Favorites list prior to the upgrade you can access them there. Be sure to login to Primo to access My Favorites by clicking the pushpin icon.
  • When you find the record you wish to link to select the chain link icon and then copy your permalink.

Permalinks

If you wish to document your Permalinks prior to July 15th, please follow these instructions.  However, items can always be discovered via search after migration.

If you are using Permalinks for readings in Blackboard or on websites, these links will not work after the upgrade to the new Gonzaga Primo Library Search system. Since My Favorites (Saved Records) are automatically migrated to your account after the upgrade, we suggest you save current permalink records to the My Favorites menu for easy re-capture after the upgrade on August 5th.

  1. Before July 15th, follow each of your permalinks to find the records in the current Primo Library Search.  You may want to keep a record of the location of your current permalinks for more efficiency.
  2. For each permalink, you followed, save the record into My Favorites by clicking on the pushpin icon to the right.
  3. After August 5th navigate to My Favorites in the upgraded Gonzaga Primo Libraries Search system and click the three dots on the right of the record, and then select the permalink button permalink icon  to generate new permalinks to replace the old ones. If you want to select multiple saved records and export them with the permalinks to an Excel file select the My Favorites (Push Pin icon in the upper menu by your name), and then, either select all records or check those you wish to export, then click the three dots in the middle of the page, and Export to Excel.
