The starter kit was created to provide instructors with an introduction to the use and creation of open educational resources (OER). The text is broken into five sections: Getting Started, Copyright, Finding OER, Teaching with OER, and Creating OER.
In 2020, the starter kit was remixed and released on the Manifold platform as the OER Starter Kit Workbook. This version allows for in-text annotations and includes Google Docs worksheets for each chapter, which are designed to help instructors practice the skills they need to confidently find, use, or create OER.
