Foley Library Digital Scholarship Lab: Cricut

Our Cricut Maker 3 can do many things, including precision cutting of paper, cardstock, fabric, and vinyl, as well as drawing designs and writing text or calligraphy.

The Cricut Maker 3 is a smart cutting machine used for crafting and DIY projects. It can cut a wide variety of materials, including paper,  cardstock, vinyl, and fabric. It can also be used to write text or draw designs on material.

Material Dimensions

On the Cricut Maker 3, material can be used with or without a cutting mat. But in all cases, be aware that the maximum cuttable area (length and width) is slightly less than the material width in order to allow for margin and roller clearance.

  • With mat:
    • Maximum Width: 305mm or 12"
    • Maximum Length: 305mm or 12"
  • Without mat:
    • Maximum Width: 330mm or 13"
    • Maximum Length: 3,600mm or 142"
  • Maximum Cut Thickness: 2.4mm or 0.0945"

The maximum thickness will depend on the material and blade used.
