November 20th is a day to both remember and honor transgender individuals who have died unjustly due to transphobic violence, as well as recognize the strength and resilience of the transgender community.

The trans experience is not the same for everyone, even though mass media often portrays it that way. We hope that the resources in this guide will show that people can experience gender and identify themselves in different ways.

In the week leading up to Transgender Day of Remembrance, here are some specific ways you can help us honor the transgender community:

  • Educate yourself by reading a book or watching a streaming film listed in this guide.
  • Attended a local event listed in the "Take Action" tab, above.
  • Checkout our book display at Foley Library
  • Sign the library's "I stand with the transgender community" board, located next to the library's book display.
