  • Ibram X. Kendhi's books have been a frequent target of challenges in schools because they address issues of systemic racism in our country. According to this article by NBC News, How To Be An Antiracist is on a list of 50 books Texas parents want banned. "In asking to ban this nonfiction book about resisting racism, an Eanes parent suggested replacing it with copies of the Bible."

  • Gonzaga University hosted a virtual event titled "Uprooting Racism and Inequality" on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in 2021 (January 20, 2021), during which New York Times bestselling and National Book Award-winning author Ibram X. Kendi discussed “How to Be an Antiracist” and other significant actions to uproot racism.
