Artist's Statement:

Chance is such a big player in my creative life that I was taken with the role of chance in random genetic drift.  I made a suite of three little accordion books that wordlessly illustrate the process.  For example, in one book, I used colored threads to represent three genes.  Holes torn in the paper represent disasters that destroy members of the population who by chance are the only ones carrying one of the three genes.

Made with embossed and tooled Canson and Somerset papers and with linen threads.
