The Learning Commons:
A library learning commons is a modern, collaborative space that supports learning and discovery. It offers diverse resources, technology, and opportunities for students to work together and explore their interests.
Flexible: Adapts to various learning styles and activities.
Collaborative: Encourages teamwork and discussion.
Diverse: Offers a variety of resources, including books, digital media, and technology.
Inquiry-based: Supports students in exploring topics and asking questions.
Community-focused: Connects students with teachers, peers, and the community.
Part 1: Free up space.
Phase 1: Compress basement serials that have perpetual e-access.
Phase 2: Move/compress remaining towards east wall.
Phase 3: Plant disassembles shelves and reassembles at Pearl St. Warehouse; builds wall.
Phase 4: Remove low-use monographs (aka books) from 2nd & 3rd floor to warehouse.
Part 2: Renovate Foley real estate we presently control.
Integres Architects and Plant Services
New digital scholarship space by ITS and renovated Rare Books/Archives.
Part 3: Bigger things that intersect with campus and need fundraising💲💲💲.
Renovating space for current partners (e.g., IDD, etc.), moving out partners, and bringing in new partners with collaborative needs (e.g., multipurpose space that can be used by library, partners, students, and faculty, etc.)
